Official Sumner County Contacts
The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office is the starting point for county-jail custody and booking-record questions. The jail operates around the clock, although the Sheriff notes that every service is not available at every hour. Current questions about who is held or the charges listed should go to the Detentions line and Extension 0.

The Sheriff publishes no separate booking-photo request form or fixed photo fee. Use the official contact page and ask for the records custodian. Identify the person, booking date or range, booking number when known, arresting agency, and exact item requested. Under KORA, the office may produce the record, provide an estimate, seek clarification, or explain a delay or denial.
Choose the Right Record Office
Different offices maintain different stages of a case. These routes help direct a request without treating one database as a complete history.
- For a current county-jail status, search the official Sheriff roster and call Detentions if the entry is new or unclear.
- For a booking sheet or possible booking photograph, ask the Sumner County Sheriff’s records custodian whether it exists and is releasable.
- For a Belle Plaine, Mulvane, or Wellington police report, contact the city department or its open-records officer.
- For wanted status, use Most Wanted Fugitives and confirm the result with the Sheriff or court.
- For a sentenced Kansas prisoner, use the Kansas Department of Corrections KASPER search or the KDOC KORA request portal.
- For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. ICE maintains a separate detainee locator.
- For dispatch audio or call records, contact Sumner County 911, which is separate from the jail record custodian.
The county-wide booking and roster resource explains how current custody, release, city police records, court dispositions, and state corrections records differ. Charges listed at arrest are accusations. The court record supplies the later outcome.
